The Lighthouse
The secret of our salvation depends on what kind of a trace we had left in the lives of people we had come to contact with. Did we wound or heal them.

I can vividly remember my fascination with the first lighthouse I saw. And it was a day time – not night, its light was not beaming out to the sea, but I was simply explained a concept that satisfied my genuine curiosity. My parents compared the light from the lighthouse signalling out to the ships that the land is near and also safely guiding them home through often precariously shallow waters near the end of their voyage – to our own inner light.
As it is with everything that we truly understand as children, when the prism of your own truth is verifying everything you are being told – it then becomes a part of you, something you just know, even when you don’t think about it any length of time. It just is.
I have seen many lighthouses since that day. Each one has a special place in my heart. And – I have never stopped comparing people to lighthouses. Those closest to me know this and have been an inspiration for writing to all of you now.
We have a light inside us, a light that by very design shines bright when we are connected to the deep truth inside us, and not so bright when the storms and fog of every day existence is relentlessly reoccurring, and just when we hold steady and we are in the clear again, the new one is brewing, only more menacing – but only because we are now stronger and can take on a bigger storm…. The cycle of life is not going to stop and we eventually catch its rhythm and no longer see it as dark peril, but we know on the most deepest level that it cannot distinguish our light, and we fight to keep the flame lit, even if it’s not as bright while we go through it - because our light is important not just for us, but more so for those who are desperately seeking safety of the shore.
The Light of Love
You, my friend, are a lighthouse. Your only job is to maintain and emanate the light inside you, without questioning whether someone is out there in the darkest of nights. Someone always is, and you may be their last and only ray of hope.
Hold on to your light as if your life depended on it, because it isn’t just you that you have the ability to save. You can also guide and inspire with the quality and strength of your light, which is a prayer and an example at the same time.
Shine on!
