Coming back to my love of aquarelle with daily painting (as I work on the new series to be released later in the spring) has been raising so many questions from curious friends and family. I am so grateful to be able to give all my attention to creative work, especially painting and writing. Of course, I keep it wrapped up in mystery for now, and although I want to share with you what I am working on at this moment, at the same time I know you will appreciate that the come back after nearly a decade of absence from the world of exhibitions, warrants for a little anticipation.

After all, while I am still figuring out how I want to present the collection to you – some behind the scenes will be coming to you in the coming weeks, and I will show you some details, so as not to spoil the whole picture for you once everything is ready for the launch.

That said, there is nothing stopping us from indulging in my previous paintings. The ones I pick to share with you are probably my all time favourites, as well as the viewers’ and collectors’. What is so lovely and fills my heart with such joy is being able to bring beauty, to remind people of the details. Nothing pleases me more than when people observe the painting from the sort of viewing distance and feel drawn closer, upon reaching it they keep discovering more and more details that please them, that you can see clearly when you stand far from the painting.

Corfe Castle is a painting full of sunshine and a lot of detail. Still it’s harmonious because of the colour palette and the perspective. I observed this scene from inside the car, and I knew I had to take the shot in that very spot, before we could park somewhere and walk back. This was in days of reel film, when I just acquired the digital camera, but this instrument was still foreign to me. I wanted that view before the road goes immediately down and to the right of The Greyhound. The layers of different textures in the foreground building, roof tiles of the pub and the castle walls beyond it were a great study when I painted it.

This painting is part of private collection, but while it was exhibited (I was a member of London’s famous Bayswater Road Art Exhibition for almost ten years) I have met a lot of people from Corfe itself, or from Dorset, and had an opportunity to exchange some nice stories, or just people who have been in that part of the world and recognised it instantly for the characteristics I captured in this watercolour painting. Those memories, and this image have a special place in my heart. I do hope you will enjoy this petite story and a closer look at one of my most liked and commented on paintings.
