I Can't Afford to Buy, But I Can Afford to Give

“It's not the load that breaks you down. It's the way you carry it."

I believe in voluntary work. Monetary rewards are confusing our sense of values. The principles I follow in life are the ones of firm belief in nurturing our senses, our sensibilities, expanding and exploring our limits, and forever growing. Why have so many fine lines been blurred and erased?

There is a quality in being, in simple enjoyment of everyday thoughts and in the ways we accumulate life's experiences. Surely that in itself, and reflection upon that every single day, is enough to keep us grounded. Why do we forget to feel grateful for the sunshine and for the rain? For it is this that helps us grow the crops we need in order to live, as much as nourish and enrich our soul. Why have complications and obscurity replaced our simple need for truth? Not just hearing the truth from others but being truthful to ourselves.

Every so often, as a regular part of our ever expanding self - we are tried and tested. This can occur at any given time, any moment or place. Usually this happens when we become so comfortable that we start taking even the smallest things in life for granted. We concentrate all our energy on building all these castles in the vast skies of future which belongs to no man. We explore with certainty the time that we haven't conquered. We can hardly say that we have a grasp of what is within our sight, let alone something that is unknown, for one reason - because it is not necessary for us to know. Yet we strive to develop systems which alter nature and its course - completely ignorant of things like calling our mother and asking her how she feels and if she "would want to see us for lunch some time soon?"

What is it in us that drives us to ignore our need to replenish spirit? That in our constant struggle to remain on overload with informations of all the different kinds, we have written books on simplifying our life. How unnecessary does that sound? Very, actually. There is an urge for another list, a link surely, or a photograph. Yes, our computers can hold all this information, but we are hurting ourselves and we work against our nature by constantly exhausting our capacity to receive.

I'll give you a list that is shockingly simple:
fresh air
thinking in silence
feeling connection beyond need for any words with one other, and ultimately - all
being aware of day and night
sleep

Be humble in the steps you take and in the philosophy by which you live. There should be no fear in looking people deep into their eyes and holding a total stranger's hand when you feel compelled to do so. Save for the feelings shared with others - there is no truer meaning of our existence. Do, because you cannot be any other way. And the reward is where you haven't looked lately - inside of you. Commit yourself to the moment your are in and the future will take its course. It will lead you where you need to be. Perfect and polish tirelessly the only gem you really have.

I can't afford to buy, but I can afford to give and I shall carry on giving till my last breath.
