Home Project - Where to Start
Style Saturday Series
Post 14
Before everything, I am going to commend you for showing up here for yourself. Wanting to improve your surroundings is a sure sign that things are moving in the right direction – in every area. For when one part of us wants to grow, other parts of us naturally follow, until we are back in the rhythm of the life’s flow of energy. And this first step has more significance than the last one you will take on this particular journey – because transformation happens instantly, change is here inside you now.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t always mean that it gets easier from here on, but you already know that easy is not the point, but feeling ease inside you - is. That’s always enough to help us figure out everything we need to - when we come to it. So, having made a decision that you want to improve, change and better your lifestyle by investing your time and effort in home project – is a signal that you have already successfully completed the first step.
We meet at the point where the road offers you many different paths to follow, and you can’t tell which way is the right way for you. I’m glad that you are here, because I can help you figure out what you want, and how to get there. Basically, I can tell you which way would be the path that takes you to your desired outcome. Unless you have any objections to friendly help, you can join me as I am going in your direction anyway.
We’re going to keep it simple and clear. Having already completed the two most important steps: decided that you want to upgrade your ___________ (go ahead and insert your project: bathroom, living room, anything you want); and not been afraid to look around for help: Hello! :) you are now going to decide exactly what you want to achieve at the end of it. That’s the next crucial step!
Now, you don’t need to have a clear vision in respect of the style and colours (as there are always more options that can potentially all be right – in fact you can almost go no wrong, but stick with me), but you do need to have a clear vision as to how you want the space to feel and more importantly what feelings you want it to evoke in you. Actually, the more details that you know, the better. If you already know you want lots of light and you love pale apple green and your woodwork painted white because that makes you happy and grounded – then yes, we need to capture all those details.
I don’t care how you arrive at your vision, but I want you to have some fun with it. Think of holidays, think of childhood, think of places that made you feel so cozy, inspired, alive. Think of the quality of light, sense of huge space or really packed with treasures like Aladdin’s cave. Whether you sit and close your eyes and think, or you write down your impressions, or you look through books, magazines, on the internet – whatever helps trigger your imagination and helps you draw from your memory – collect it all and see how it relates to your project. If you want to tell me the stories about your favourite parts, I am always eager to hear you. Otherwise, I am happy with the list that has all the meanings you want to give it - that’s your vision. Trust me that I have enough ideas for both of us to last us few lifetimes, but for this to work for you – it has to be your idea. I am happy to be your guide to creating your happy place.
Why is the Vision So Important
Having a clear vision will help you stay focused in case you take a detour, or if something else pops up that makes you have to adjust the details (this sometimes happens in home projects, because in practical terms something may look different than in our vision) – but knowing the final destination will help keep us on course. If we don’t know where we are going – it’s much harder, and takes way longer, to get there, don’t you think? That’s if we ever even find that place.
Make the Action Part Fun
Now, don’t you just want to start work on your project? Well, now you can, my friend. Stay creative and flexible in all of these: gather information, ideas and inspiration, start clearing out everything that is in the way and that will no longer be part of that set up, pack it, get rid of it, clean, gather materials you will use, paint the large surfaces (ceilings, walls, floors), then woodwork (pro tip: you want to paint it either white or the same colour as your walls – let’s not experiment early on, stick with this, you won’t be disappointed), then have fun with arranging the items you will have around you in that space. Take care and have patience to tweak until it feels right to you. That’s another crucial part. When it clicks, when it makes sense – it feels different. Pay attention and look for that feeling. (You’re welcome!) Keep matching it to that vision as close as you can. And you’ve done it! Now you can enjoy it and let it inspire you to bring your best self out in that place, to always grow a little more each day.

The sunshine disappeared half way through the day, but its energy carried through. It was a good day for a photo shoot. I didn’t get a chance all week to do it, but today the lighting was just perfect, even and bright enough. I wasn’t in a hurry and it was nice to get lost inside another creative avenue. After my usual morning routine (which is without the doubt invaluable tool in staying connected with the source), in the second half of the morning I worked on scale drawings of living room furniture. All things willing and possible, I intend to extend the living room, so playing with the few layouts will be fun and it is far easier to move paper cut outs than lug really (I mean REALLY) heavy furniture around the room. I will share photos of the drawings with you here, but in due course I will show you the room as well when things start moving in that direction.

Feeling of the day is peace, coupled with elated joy. Being able to tap into all areas of creativity, from shaping the ideas in the morning, to drawing, writing and taking photos (and everything connected with setting the photoshoot) – always extends and prolongs the highest vibration feelings. I am so grateful for this challenge and also for not lacking of things to do, things that I love the most.

I am curious about tomorrow. Again, I am not able to decipher where the feeling may take me tomorrow – towards which activity, but I intend to keep enjoy it and keep you posted. Some days my creative writing flow doesn’t want to be interrupted, some days it’s painting, some days is work on and inside Indigo & Verdigris, and some days are mostly about the work on 365 Days to Dream. That depends on few aspects, but it is the inner guidance that leads the way in creative endeavours. Look out for the link, This is Your Moment podcast – episode #4 is coming your way tomorrow. I will share the link here, of course, my friend.
