You are the Driver and the Navigator
Wednesday is Business Series
Post 15
I had to figure this out pretty early in life, and because it is something that still applies – and I still employ this thinking to help me navigate the unknown waters of business – I am sharing it with you now. There is a deeper knowing that this documenting process will be useful to someone someday, and I am grateful for my own clarification process that takes place simultaneously.
For an artist, who is co-creating with the inner author, and following one’s intuition - the creation process is easy mentally, even though the discipline of meticulous attention to detail and perfecting each and every one is a process of joyous dedication unquestionably consists of long hours of focusing on the smallest of details. That part is very much a complete commitment to self, decidedness to do whatever it takes, and a celebration of every harmony captured, fully lived, understood. Even the word bliss doesn’t come close to the actual feeling of unity and oneness the artist feels with the soul of the universe.
Translating that creative process into a fine art brand – is another form of art. Inevitably, one is faced with choices and decisions that first have to be learned, then adapted (if possible), or discarded if completely irrelevant and non-resonant, so that one can course-correct to the desired destination.
These kinds of choices are always making me conscious of their double-edged sward nature, or the fork in the road – and no matter how hard you try, there is no reconciling – you have to pick one and explore until you realise whether it’s something useful or it is indeed a no go. And those do happen from time to time.
What am I talking about?
The first choice is ‘you have to go behind the enemy lines’.
The second choice is ‘you have to go on faith’.
So, you have come across something you have no previous experience in, but you need to make choices for your business, so naturally, you think that a healthy dose of study would eliminate confusion. It is my direct experience that it rarely does that. However many ‘experts’ you find, and they seem to deliver a message that resonates to a degree – further dive into their theory takes ever so slight shift away from your instincts, and the deeper and longer persisting in learning this way, takes you away from your natural ability to make judgments that are best for yourself, from your own perspective and inside your own experience.
Second choice – the only choice, really – is to trust your own instincts, even on a subject that is unknown to you. Of course, you are going to meet with those often, and the sooner you realise that yes, a certain degree of informing yourself is necessary – following another’s footsteps literally – is not only unnecessary but wrong from your own perspective – for you.
It was my intention at the beginning of this post to mention specifics, for the ease of referencing – but I have realised that the specifics are only relevant for me, and the above really applies to all. The illustration is clear, whatever the subject may be because the principle is the same.
In Short or
The Moral of the Story
When faced with a decision that you have to find a solution for, but cannot draw conclusions based on your previous knowledge and experience – do inform yourself on the subject, but stay focused on your intuition and go only as far as you need to. There is never a good reason to grow attached to someone else’s way of thinking because you are ultimately best equipped and capable of making the best choices for yourself. It is essential that you remain true to you, as that is the way of your limitless potential. Don’t settle nor give your power to anything else, my friend.
* * * * The Exclusive Update – 315 Days to Dream * * * *
1.
Today was one of the quieter days of the challenge on the home front. It is interesting how the dynamics have lined themselves like that, allowing me the time to focus on painting and Indigo & Verdigris at the moment, whilst doing the research for the 365 Days to Dream project when I have time. Rest assured that in every spare moment I am looking at the pieces of furniture, walls, designing and imagining the different layouts, particularly in the kitchen and the living room. Oh, how I wish to dive into the practical part of the challenge. However, I feel it’s not long now until that day.
2.
The feeling of the day is tranquillity and clarity. I am grateful for the creative energy and the daily painting and writing, as well as the mindfulness practices. It’s all unfolding so nicely into the life experience. It makes so much sense, and if I could recommend anything today, it would be to take time for yourself, my friend. Really become present here and now, savour every moment, enjoy the inspiration and the feeling it produces.
3.
I know there will be more painting and writing tomorrow, but also some tending to the many plants I have in this place. Spring is a great time to nourish their soul (and soil) so that they can thrive in the warmer months. I am ready for longer days, taking my projects outside into the garden and enjoying the fresh air.
Remember – You Are Safe Here
This is the sacred place between our souls. Thank you for sharing your visions, dreams and ideas. Your courage to be vulnerably seen will always be respected, and you will be treated with nothing but kindness and compassion. ♡
I visited your profile. I loved it much. I love also Mozart and Vivaldi etc.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you. You know what they say, and it is true - great minds think alike. It seems that we take inspiration in some of the best artists who have graced the Earth plane with their presence. I have read who inspires your poetry, and I find it admirable that you have read such great works. One of my favourite poets of all time is Walt Whitman. His Leaves of Grass is like an encyclopedia on life. I always return to it, time and time again.
DeleteSending you kindest regards, my friend.

So nice of you! I would love to be in touch with you. You are a positive and deep person. Could you forward your email id through my contact page? It is a really a great thing to get a good friend again. I am from India but you know my heart is in England. I feel that I was born there that's why English Heritage impresses me a lot. I love Keats. I call him my brother.
ReplyDeleteEmily Dickinson is my friend, sister, guide and my soul. I love her a lot. I especially like her poem, 'Hope is the thing with feathers'. I am a very deep thinker and dreamer. The creativity of nature is awesome and it goes on giving me a lot of surprises with its beauty and depth. I want to go beyond because in it my strength lies. I don't care about my health. I don't accept what people say because they are not original thinkers. I search originality in my thinking. I am setting my own rules. They may be different and they may not be according to syllabus of a school.
