The Outlook is Sunny
Art Monday Series
Post 13
OK, I’ll admit it first, the fact that it is spring and that the sunshine has visited London for the entire day – has helped the early morning start with the highest vibration. But the fact remains, that was merely a sign for things that will unfold throughout the rest of the day. Even the aquarelle painting I wish to share with you today is called the Sunny Spot, and that was not planned in as much as it simply synchronised perfectly, and definitely not accidentally.
When you look at this painting, you can’t help but feel the heat of the strong Mediterranean sun and the hot air of summer. The watercolour medium lends itself so well to portrayal of light and shade – my favourite exercise in painting. The warm colours of mottled shade take us into the painting to explore what’s in the shade under the trees, and beyond in the garden. Then, just a glimpse of people enjoying this moment inside the setting, as much as the viewer on the opposite side of them. And a pause to make the connection.
Everything about this painting is a story about bright and its dark counterpart. Take a look at the contrast between the sun bleached buildings on the left and the dark greens on the right of the painting. They balance each other, and the plants on the near left side help frame the view.
As a painter, it was exciting to allow the soft tones of Burnt Amber and the cool Ultramarine push each other’s pigments away and create pleasing detail in the shade. This is the most fun aspect of aquarelle painting technique – the unpredictability and fluid, transparent nature of every wash. The way colours blend is unrepeatable, and that is something that takes your breath away each and every time you paint.
As a viewer, you never tire of a scene that is infused with the positive glow of sun rays. You just keep wondering what is behind the big trees, is it a pool in all its glory, for this would be an ideal moment to cool yourself down in the water. Or are there more trees and a secluded lawn with an open fire place when family and friends gather until the late in the night? It could be. I am not revealing what it is, because the mystery adds to the magic.
* * * * The Update – 351 Days to Dream * * * *
1.
I want to share today’s update with all the other fellow challengers! Well done to all!!! I have been in touch with all of you today, and to hear the progress and resolve and the energy driving you – has lifted me even higher. Especially because of the outside timing of our 365 days projects, you get my absolute respect. The way everyone is keeping focused on the creative energy, opening up for everyone who needs encouragement and staying connected with the community – is brilliant. I can only thank you for every word you have written and shared with me. And I look forward to sharing your wins with everyone here, too.

There is no one word that can easily sum up the energy of this day. Wait, maybe there is – sunshine! As those rays of light that we all welcome, that bright light that seeps into every corner and chases the darkness away – that is how today felt as a day: unstoppable and undeniable, energy that lifts up everyone who touches it.

On the same note as above, tomorrow is another artist post (back to back), because Adriana Donica brings us her art work and a talk about her own 365 Days challenge. We are both excited to share it with you, my friend. I know you will enjoy a look into her portfolio and her incredibly detailed vision.
On a different note, for those following my progress, seeing that the sun is finally here – that spring cleaning should be in full swing before the end of this week. That is the aim for all of this week and through the next week, to clean and clear as much as possible. Of course, along the way the catalogue is unfolding and growing, the co-hosted LIVE podcast is being planned for the end of next week (fingers crossed), and some of the pre cut materials should be coming out to play as I begin to explore do I still enjoy sewing as much as I did back 10-15 years ago when I did a lot of it. I will keep you posted.
Remember – You Are Safe Here
This is the sacred place between our souls. Thank you for sharing your visions, dreams and ideas. Your courage to be vulnerably seen will always be respected, and you will be treated with nothing but kindness and compassion. ♡
