Surrendering

Surrendering

Reading is escape, and the opposite of the escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real.

Art is the gentlest and ever-present reminder of life in this moment. The moment which connects the author’s past with readers future – and transcends both, granting them the view into another soul’s world.

So strong and compelling is the urge to leave but a small trace that is the glory of this moment – quiet, fragile, precious, moving, reflective, ground shattering, heartbreaking, or uplifting. Just one, or all of these qualities – immortalised with a brushstroke, a note, a word…. It is the appreciation of art that joins us in our vulnerability and makes us seen in our moments of solitude.

Life is a wonderful journey that may take us on an adventure that inspires our dreams. It can be fulfilling in every aspect, and through many storms we will have to navigate. If we want all that this experience is teaching us– life can be rewarding at every single bend and crossroad. The darkest moments can reveal the best inside us. Life can break us, but never defeat the light inside us that came to shine and rise again.

The pattern is your own. The pace and depth are your own. The shape and colours are yours to choose - poetry can be music to your unique dance.  Be brave not to stand still, for you came here to learn everything, and to reveal your new self to every dawn.

Surrender not to any fear, but surrender to your belief that you could always fly. That is not something you need to learn but learn to remember. You can still fly.

Smile to the sunshine. Smile to the wind, and let the cold rain play the rhythm of the distant skies on your face. Bow your head in reverence to your deepest truths. Stay like that and feel the world rise to meet your feet. Remember that the great in you is equal to the greatness of the universe itself. Remember you. And live as if everything will be alright again. For, here is the truth – it will.

* * * * The Exclusive Update – 334 Days to Dream * * * *

1.
This must have been the warmest day of the year so far. It’s only 10 April 2020, and the temperature has reached 23 degrees. Unusual for London at this time of year, but then again – this is year is a little different in many ways. Grateful that I could spend time in the garden, tending to plants and enjoying the early blooms, as well as all the others that have already prepared their buds for flowering through warmer months, like hortensias. The ideal day to wash the quilts and large blankets, as the theme of this week Spring Cleaning continues. I’m grateful for this challenge too, because it allows me time and space to move, whilst painting and writing keep me in front of my laptop for a few hours at the time.

Today’s predominant feeling is gratitude for the simple life, for love connecting my family and the love we extend to everyone. As we move towards Easter (Orthodox Easter Sunday is on 19 April this year), a lot of my thoughts are naturally focused on the triumph of the life everlasting, on rising and on trusting that deep inner knowing that all is well. There is a reason why we are here now, and the fact remains that if we are here, it’s because we can go through everything that will come in this lifetime – and emerge to the other side stronger, better and bigger version of ourselves. There will be hard moments, and lessons, but we will learn them and shine even through the darkest days.

The sewing project is looming, but I can’t quite start on it this week. I am looking forward to finalising the new podcast episode for you tomorrow. It’s going live on Sunday, as usual. And stay tuned to find out what other inspiration I find tomorrow for the new day in this 365 Days to Dream. We are one month in – the needle has moved, the plans have been whispered to the universe, and we move forward to new victories together, my friend.
