Real Love is Real Forever

Together with cars and lighthouses, churches and monastery complexes are among my favourite subjects. Of course (this will not surprise you to hear) all of them are favourites for the meaning they hold inside my heart, and the connection I find between their form and deeply rooted love and memories they hold for me personally.

For that reason, I have selected to share with you the magic of my Meteora aquarelle painting.

Why is magic so important to feel and capture? Because we are in this lifetime to experience the best and deepest it has offer – and to give it our own meaning, colour it with our own vision, perhaps discover something no one else has seen, thus adding to the expansion of our collective consciousness. All of these are subtle and sophisticated ways of the soul – the very reason life makes sense. Do it from your heart and you are co-creating with the universe. Is there a better reason to be alive, but for the pure joy of being here in this moment?

Obviously, if you have read a bit about the author of this blog, you will have seen that I have studied Theology - Orthodox Christianity at the Faculty of Theology (University of Belgrade). One doesn’t just stumble upon a subject like that. This is the path that chooses you, more than the other way around. For me, it was a crowning moment of my way of being, as well as a safe haven that offered light, dignity and respect, promoted and highlighted individuality, and never restricted my own faith and my own thinking, let alone interfered with the faith inside me – unlike the place which I rebelled against – it’s dark opposite in every way you can imagine (Law Faculty – University of Belgrade).

Perhaps I will tell you more about those days, but for this post, I just needed you to know that the connection between my soul and this painting is as deep as you can grasp – in many ways it is a picture of my soul – like many of my works. I wouldn’t do anything that doesn’t have my whole heart and soul in it. That’s a vow I made to myself and I am staying true to that until the end.

A bit about the painting process:

Interesting fact – this is one of the very few of my paintings in which you cannot see the sky - not even a little bit. That in itself was appealing, and those rock formations and shadows on the mountain behind the monastery buildings, which are painted slightly out of focus to bring our attention fully to the cliff nearest to the viewer, topped with the graceful structure. It would seem daring to build a monastery in such a precarious place, but with the deeper knowledge of how all monasteries came to be – you appreciate that there is much more of a blessing and guidance involved in the entire undertaking.

It was a joy to paint every detail as my eye saw it – to try and capture the peace and beauty – in not so many colours, but vivid nonetheless.

This is the place where words become surplus. Enjoy it as my gift to you today, and let it comfort you in the knowledge that all is well and always will be, my friend. Created with great love, both painted and written.

P.S. Unfortunately, as with many of my photographs in a five year period – the photographic record of the process of how this was painted, has been lost forever to an irreversible hard disk failure. Let me know if you want to know more about the process and I will be happy to respond to your question.

* * * * The Exclusive Update – 331 Days to Dream * * * *

1.
Today was a first day that didn’t see almost any movement on the 365 Days to Dream – home renovation project side. However, something big was set in motion today. As I am progressing with the painting collection and getting ready for the launch (now probably in the summer, and probably to celebrate our reemerging into the freedom of outside and hugging the loved ones who don’t live in the same house as us) – I have commenced the work on creating my art website. I intend to build the entire thing myself, and I want it to be the home of this blog, as well! I did some intensive work on setting up the domain, hosting, email accounts and forwarding, linking all of those and noting down all the information. A huge achievement for today, especially as I am feeling under the weather for the last few days. Nothing serious, just my body indicating to me to slow down a bit, so that it can keep up with me. I am not a robot, after all, although sometimes I forget this, and because I am so passionate about all the things I do, I don’t take a break but literally work from the moment I finish my daily exercises until I go to bed! So, in the last few days, I have been gently nudged by my system to slow down. I picked up my favourite book to read, I spent time in the garden, but just enjoying it rather than being busy in it, and just assumed a slightly slower pace – until I feel the balance has been restored.

Note to self: need to take notice sooner, and incorporate these little rituals into my daily schedule, as it seems that (apart from my top of the morning routine which is peaceful) I don’t take breaks at all.

2.
I struggled with whether to include the above, but I decided to share it with you, not for any other reason but to show you that it is human after all to feel differently from day to day – and in the bigger picture, it is necessary to see that 365 days are made up of different challenges, and as long as we stay true and connected to our inner being, it will guide us to a tempo that is more suitable until we find our faster groove again. ;)

3.
Having taken notice and slowed down for the last three days, I am still in the recovery mode, but really enjoying the gentler activities. Working on the latest painting has been a godsend, quite literally. I will be making more time for it, as it is very, very detailed – and I am loving every moment I spend working on it. My daily progress on all fronts is one of the components of 365 Days to Dream project – I hope I have been transparent about that from the beginning.

Remember – You Are Safe Here

This is the sacred place between our souls. Thank you for sharing your visions, dreams and ideas. Your courage to be vulnerably seen will always be respected, and you will be treated with nothing but kindness and compassion. ♡

P.P.S. One to pin and save for later? You're welcome!
